My deepest condolances to Rod's family. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when Cathy told me last year that a 92 year old man came to the barn and mounted up for a ride on Precious, I thought to myself Wow that is amazing! To be 92 and riding was an inspiration. I thought I want to do that, to aspire to ride still when I am 92 too. But what was more amazing than that of being 92 and him riding again was the man himself. Rod was humorous and kind, and still lived at his home, and was still driving and living life as if he was years younger. I would hear of his visits to the farm and was so glad that he had found Cathy and her horses. She filled his life with horses again and new friendships. And he filled the barn with smiles and inspiration. I know that he will be missed by the horses he visited and by all of us fellow horse people at TMHF. Rod may you rest peacefully and keep being that shining light up there where you are now.

Rod was so gentle and caring with the horses and in his general manner, one could not help noticing the mutual bond between man and horse.
I believe the horses loved Rod as much as he loved them, and I believe there are horses in heaven.
Godspeed you safely home,
Vicki Breech

I only knew Rod through Cathy Sampson’s Facebook page. I loved to see the joy on his face when he was around the horses. When Cathy posted that he had passed, I was unbelievably sad for a man I have never met. My deepest condolences to you all.

Dear Rod
The time i had with you was short but it felt like i knew you a life time, your sense of humor, your stories of your life and your love of horses will forever be in my memory, the look in your eyes when you looked into the eye of the horses truly was in your soul and heart. They say there is a special place where horses run free, i know you have been chosen to go to this beautiful place, ride free Rod, we will miss you. My sincere condolences to your family

Although I never met Rod, I felt that I knew him through the posts from Trillium Equine Centre. I always looked forward to Catherine's updates about Rod's latest visit. I cheered him on as he mounted up for a ride. His love of horses was so obvious and he always looked so happy when he was around them. He even looked happy sweeping up the aisles. I will miss those updates. Although he had a good long life, I was very sad to hear of his passing. To his family, I offer my sincere condolences. Rod, may you rest in peace. Wherever you are, I hope there are lots of horses.

I met your father through the stories post by Cathy, he became family very quickly and it saddened my heart to know those stories will no longer continue here on this planet. I know he is looking after the Trillium horses in his next life. My condolences to his family.
