Obituary of June Olive McMullen

(nee Goode)

June 5, 1925 – January 28, 2019

June passed away peacefully at the Wynfield in her 94^th year.

Beloved wife of the late Roy McMullen (d. 2006). Loving mother of Diane Harness (Gerald), Karen Wallgren (Jim), Carl (Judy), Ron, Debbie and Dan (Lisa). Proud and loving grandmother of sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. June was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Olive Goode, sisters Ruth Grady and Edna Watson Taylor and brothers Bruce, Ray, Don and Bob Goode.

June grew up in Orono and helped out at her family’s creamery while in high school.  She graduated as a Dental Nurse from the University of Toronto. She moved to Bowmanville when she married Roy and led an active life raising six children, volunteering at the hospital and the New to You Shop for over 30 years and being a member of the UCW at Trinity United Church. June had a busy social life with her special “North Ward” friends, her long-time friends from Orono and her special group of hospital volunteers.

June enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Family members were the lucky recipients of her beautiful creations. We all enjoyed her proficient baking skills!

We thank the staff at Seasons Retirement Home for their excellent care. For the past 8 months, the staff at Chartwell Wynfield Long Term Care provided Mom with outstanding care and quality of life. Their compassionate and loving care allowed Mom to leave this world in peace and comfort.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Church, 116 Church St, Bowmanville on Friday February 8, 2019, from 2 – 4 pm, with words of tribute at 3 pm. Private family interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Bowmanville Hospital Foundation through NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville.
