Russel has always had a special place in my heart. I’ve been buying trees and shrubs from him for 20+ years and my parents 20+ before that. Every visit was friendly and always entertaining. I looked forward to our visits and chats. His nursery was my favourite because of him. It wasn’t a big box fancy outlet like is common today. It was hard work, personality, and him. RUSSEL. I imagine every time I plant a tree for some time, I’ll admire it, smile and think of Russel.

We were so sorry to read of Russell's passing, we will miss him! We purchased trees from him for years and always, always enjoyed the adventure of not only choosing from his stock but having Russell share his expertise and knowledge as only he could! The conversation continued, usually for a long time, sitting in his kitchen while he told us what was new with him, his thoughts on what was right and wrong with the world, current politicians, etc. etc. RIP Russell, you were a gem! Our deepest condolences to his family.

My condolences to the family. It was such a treat for so many to not only visit his nursery over the many years, but also take in his vast knowledge, advice and appreciate his true love of trees and the natural world. His legacy will live on for decades and hopefully even centuries in the many trees and shrubs purchased and planted in a vast region across Ontario.

My Sincerest condolences to Russ's family. Our family has been dealing with Russ buying trees and shrubs for many, many years. He was honest, and had good quality trees at very reasonable prices. Anyone who knew Russ, knew he had strong opinions. It was always an interesting experience heading out to his place to buy plants. He will certainly be missed by friends and customers. RIP

RIP Russell Fisher. I was a customer at Fisher Nurseries several times over the years and always enjoyed Russell's expertise and advice to purchases. One purchase in particular remains in my mind as it was a six foot evergreen I planted in front of my house. Although I no longer own the house I visit from time to time and it now towers over the house . I remember Russell using the hoist on his old tractor to lift it into the borrowed trailer and then the trouble getting it off at home. Finally a brother-in-law came along with his Jimmy and pulled one way while I pulled the other way with my car attached to the trailer. I am sure it is only one of many that dot the Ontario landscape courtesy of Russell. I will think of him every time I check on the tree.
