I am so sorry to hear about my good friend Jimmy, I live through the walkway and always stop with my dog Crosby for my morning talks with your dad, I love to listen to him tell stories of his past his many journeys in his younger yrs, I love when he recited so many songs or poems.I will miss him so much, I'll be looking for him in the walkway or out on his deck. And I'll miss him telling me how many mini choc bars he went through even before Halloween got here, or taking him him raisin bread, Jimmy u will be missed by so many, R.I.P my friend xoxxo

My Condolences to the family on your loss of your father Jimmy Martin. I’ve known Jimmy for 37 years, being his neighbour, 3 doors away. I learned a lot from Jimmy about his war days, his stories, of the war, working at the apple farm, Carruthers. A very hard worker. I’ve met his sons, and his grandsons, Paul, Justin and Andrew. I’ve heard lots about Maureen, his Daughter, and their travels together. Father and Daughter, great memories.
Jimmy, you will be sorely missed on our street. Your resting in Heaven now. So tell those stories to the Angels up above. Until we meet again, my friend! Cheryl

This is Phil's wife, which for many years he called me. Once he knew I was janice and he worked with my father, at the Goodyear, many a story I heard. They included some drinking and some hunting and my father's family, friends and my mother's family . There were not too many people Jimmy didn't know. He told me the history of our neighbourhood and how his house was the first built, it was just a laneway to his home. He would talk of the way bowmanville was many years ago. He would end some of our conversations with a limerick. There is certainly a lot I will miss about Jimmy, but I will never forget him. I will picture him out in his garage, a chipmunk climbing up his leg , blue jays flying around inside it and him feeding them peanuts.
Yes , maybe gone, but not to be forgotten...thank you Jimmy.. Phil's wife janice

I have many wonderful memories of Jimmy over my lifetime but my favourite , and I know that Wayne will remember this well, is as follows .
I was about 15 years old and on heading out to walk to school one freezing rain morning promptly slipped and fell . I knew I had hurt my leg and was so relieved to see Wayne heading towards me .
“Wayne I can’t get up I need help “.
“Ya right Judy , I’ll see you at school “
“Really Wayne I’m hurt “
“I’ll see you later” he says and off he went. A little later Jimmy saw me crying sitting on the road and came over to me.
My hero picked me up and helped me into the house and called my dad to come take me to the hospital . I had broken my leg in two places !
From that moment on he was my Super Hero. (Wayne not so much )
He was a wonderful kind man who loved to pop in and chat with our mom after dad passed away. She really appreciated the company.
I send my deepest condolences to Maureen,Ken and Wayne and your families. He will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will miss dropping by to see him when I come to town . Judy
