I had wondered why I hadn’t seen Jim around the village for months during my daily walks. I knew he had been ill and upon checking online this morning, I learned of his passing.
It was always a spark in my day when I saw Jim approaching from the opposite direction. He always greeted me with a cheery “good morning” and a warm smile. I didn’t know him exceptionally well but we always had interesting and lengthy conversations about anything and everything - Jim always seemed to know a bit about everything, most likely because of his obvious zest for life in general.
I am saddened to learn of his passing and my sincere condolences to his family but I am also relieved that his pain is gone. He was such an optimistic inspiration. Rest In Peace, my friend.

When Joy & I heard of James passing it surely broke our hearts. Met him many times on our dog walks and when you would see him on his jogs,I would jog beside him a short distance just to see his smile. Often tried to coach him to get on my 4 wheeler to clear the Hampton pond during the snowy days. What a spirited friend in the short time I've known him on our dog walks and chats. May the sun be always on your face James and the wind at your back. A rare and truly great friend to have known. Peace be in your hearts. Yours Sincerely Lloyd and Joyce Hurren.

Our sincerest condolences to the family. We were saddened to hear of Jim's passing. Jim, Ralph and I were friends from Grade 8 in North Valentia through high school in Lindsay. We spent a lot of good times driving around in the truck and panel van. I lost touch with Jim after high school and was pleased to hear he had a great family and life. He was a super caring and fun person to hang out with .

Wonderful memory of staying at Yolanda's and Jims place on Martijn's and my trip in Canada visiting my family. We had so much fun with this Dutch food, they especially prepared this 'gourmet' meal for us and we had so much fun baking the boerenkool met worst. Jim was having fun with all the little pans and pots..

I'm a Rogers tech that got to work with Jim only a few times. It is a rare thing to work with someone for only a short time yet feel a connection that would normally take years. That's the type of guy Jim was.
Wonderful person and you knew it immediately. So sad to here of his passing.

My life has crossed Jim’s path many times. I first met him in the early 1980’s when I was working as a summer student at Little Ark daycare in Oshawa and looked after his daughters Donna and Melissa in the infant room. I remember Jim’s smile and him being such a proud Dad to his beautiful girls. He was always interested in what the girls did that day and where we went on our daily walk. After leaving the daycare, going to college, and working in Toronto, 4 years later I got hired at Rogers in Oshawa and my first day to the office, I met Jim at the stockroom counter just inside the back door. His smile and warm welcome helped make for wonderful first day at a new employer. I was so thankful for a warm smile and friendly, famililure face. I couldn’t have been greeted by anyone better than Jim. I worked at Rogers with Jim for over 10 years and after meeting my husband and moving to Hampton, Jim then became a friendly neighbour. We shared a wave when I was going or coming from work while Jim ran, walked to do his cool down or walked the dog. We had many conversations at the end of my driveway on Perry Ave. about his daughters, planning the big wedding at the house, the dog Brinks, and of course all the news from Rogers. He was a wonderful kind man and will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family and I hope that your memories of the love you shared will help to heal your broken hearts.

Jim was an inspiration to myself and others - his death is a reminder to me - seize the day, as we never know what tomorrow may hold. Those of us who knew Jim should consider themselves lucky - live a clean simple life and always take the high road is what I took away from Jim. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best and hope his memories bring a smile to your face often.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Having worked along side Jim for 36 years, I got to know him pretty well. He was always so kind and likable. Jim never hesitated to offer a helping hand and could always be counted on. He worked with the highest degree of integrity and set a great example for his peers. Jim loved his job but he also really enjoyed the many social functions over the years such as the group trips to go see the Blue Jays or Argos. The bus ride to and from these events were always the most memorable. Although I am incredibly sad that he is no longer physically with us, he will always live on in our memories. See you on the other side Jim.

Our first time meeting Jim and Yo was when they called from Orlando one Sunday morning. We answered the phone and Jim said this is Jim Lloyd, Donna’s dad. Who?? We drove to Orlando to meet for breakfast and stayed for lunch at the ale house. Jim was very special, friendly, honest and sincere. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife, 2 beautiful daughters, his son in law Brandon and of course Brinkley. He is pain free and at peace. He will always be in your hearts watching over his family.
