To Paul , Bertha and Family, as well as Marvin and Children and the Rozema Family: My sincere and deepest condolences for the loss of a beautiful daughter, sister, sister in-law, wife, and most important, Mother. I have my memory of Paul and Bertha moving into their farm in Keene, on the Heritage Line with a slew of kids and becoming members of Cephas Christian Reformed Church. I was always in awe of how humble and hard working they are. I had the good fortune to know Karen, and the free spirit that she is ,by being a Calvinette counselor. Mike, and our two oldest children, had a great relationship attending T.A.S.S and attending Young Peoples, of which Marjorie Foley and I had the great fortune to work with these amazing teens. I did not know Betty-Anne, but when I see the picture of her, I realize her smile would melt anyone's heart. How fortunate, for all of the children who have have been a presence in her classroom. Prayers for Peace and Understanding to All. Sincerely, Annie (Sikma) Hansford

She was such a joyful soul, always smiling and being ever so positive. I knew her from a young age, she
was a great childhood friend. She helped me with the passing of my sister in so many ways, to live each day to the fullest.

Dear Marvin, Jonathan, Cole and Erica:
All of my children had the opportunity to be educated by this wonderful woman Betty-Anne !!
So positive and always smiling ! Her love for Jesus radiated from her being, as she molded the young minds entrusted to her care as teacher! Her belief in the children and what they could do with their lives stayed with them into adult hood ... and they followed the path she nurtured ... they really did. As a parent I am greatful for the impact she had in our lives!
Hugs and prayers to all of you!

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to all of the Walhout and Rozema family and especially to Marvin and the kids.
Betty-Anne was one of my dorm-mates in university and even at a young age, people were drawn to Betty-Anne's warmth, compassion, positive spirit, and authenticity. So many good talks and laughs were had with her, she always made those around her feel valued. What a gift she was to all those who were blessed to meet her.
May all of you find the peace that passes all understand as you grieve the loss of this wonderful woman and share in the joy of knowing her.

I had Mrs Rozema as a teacher when I was in Gr 3/4. She was my favourite teacher. I mean how can you top a teacher who is fun, kind, easy going, and clearly loves what she does?! I will always remember the awesome fantasy books that she read to us, teaching us how to draw random things with step by step instructions, and how she just oozed warmth and kindness. Mrs Rozema made such a big impact on me as a kid, and I think back to how she created such an inviting classroom and strive to be like that as a teacher in my own classroom. She was so loved by so many.

I just learned of Betty-Anne's homegoing from my daughter Rebekah, whom she taught at GEMS several years ago. We grieve with you and your church. Rebekah cherishes many fond memories of her time with Mrs. Rozema. Her home was always open and she was consistently kind to all the kids she had in her charge. May the Lord comfort you at this time on the loss of her who now sees him face-to-face.

I worked in the office as Promotions director at Knox while Betty-Anne taught the grade 8 class. I looked for any excuse to go and sit in on her class to take in the atmosphere she created amongst her students. Betty-Anne has the incredible ability of wisdom and discernment that allows her to bring out the best in the conversations she created with her students. She was able to draw deeper thought processes for them to consider and understand broader implications of whatever the subject matter they were discussing at the time. I felt privileged to have been able to witness that type of teacher amongst a classroom of students who were being prepared for high school and beyond. Betty-Anne held an incredibly brave and cheerful attitude even through the midst of her medical challenges. For this I will always remember the strength of character and provision the Lord granted to her and she in turn received. As Billy Graham had stated about his impeding death, "I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God."

My first memories of Betty-Anne over the last 13-14 years was during one of the times we went to collect our children from Sunday School. Our oldest children were in the same class. I was drawn to her light instantly like a moth is to a flame. She was a person I needed to get to know and always a joy to be around. Her love for her husband, children, family members, friends, church members and students was limitless and made my heart grow when she was near. We had many long chats over the years, often losing track of time, never running out of things to talk about. We discovered we attended the same high school. I was a year behind her, but looking back, I can remember seeing her in the halls, particularly her amazing head of 80's hair! Both of our oldest children played rep soccer, so I snuck in chances to see her by coming to watch her son's games and in turn, she made time in her busy schedule to bring her son to watch my daughter play. We often joked about how neat it would be if our kids ended up together and we ended up as family. I will cherish our last visit together, just 10 days before she was gone. We sat down and had tea, and picked our conversation up where we left off from before. There was a sense of finality around the conversation, but her strength and peace overshadowed any sadness. I left feeling like it was not goodbye forever, but goodbye for now, until I see her again. I cannot wait for the day when we meet again and she pulls out a chair for me, hands me a cup of tea and we launch right into catching up on life.
I am thankful she does not have to fight the battle of cancer anymore, and will always be touched by her joy, faith and love. My heart aches as it carves out a permanent spot for her as it will be impossible to forget her.
Praying for peace and comfort for her family: Marvin, Jonathan, Cole and Erica - she was so proud and honoured to call you hers - may you always feel her love surrounding you.

I met Betty-Anne my first day at Knox Christian School, 25 years ago. She came bouncing into the staff room, joy and love just radiating off her face as she joined me at the staff table. That vibrancy never changed over the years. She actually became more expressive and desired to share God's love ...it was so real and rich to her. Her unique laughter and her sincere love and care for staff and students will be sorely missed.
