Dearest Luise and Sharlene:
Our dear neighbour and friend Gerry will be remembered fondly! I know how lovingly he ministered to my Dad (Wray Hansel) in sharing cups of tea at dads kitchen table, shovelling him out of the driveway and long talks with Dad about their Lord and Saviour, a love they both shared. After dad moved in with us we would often go to Gerry to ask His opinion regarding dads house we were now caring for. The day I sold the house after dads passing
I was sitting in the backyard on a bench looking at the house my father built, that I grew up in, feeling tonnes of emotion, Gerry just walked over and quietly sat in the bench beside me.. sharing that moment. It was great comfort to me. I will miss you my brother in Christ!

Thinking of you and your family, Luise, with this sad loss of Gerry. He was one of the best friends anyone could ask for, and I am so grateful to have had him as my friend. He was always such a great part of our Guys' Fishing Weekends. Those weekends were filled with great times, great food, great Pepper games, and sometimes even great fishing. We had so many laughs - his sense of humour made sure of that! Gerry and I shared a passion for woodworking and spent many hours talking about our latest projects and tools, and enjoyed many trips to the woodworking show. He was such a talented woodworker and was able to take someone's vision, sit down, and design it in detail with ease. I will miss Gerry, as I know many people will. My life is better for having known him. Please know that Jane and I send our deepest condolences, and hope that your warm memories of a life well lived will bring you and your family comfort during the difficult days ahead.

Luty and Sharlene and family, we wish to express our condolences with the loss of your husband/father/grandfather. Gerry battled cancer the last couple of years and endured all the difficulties that went with it. During this time he helped you fight your own battle with cancer. We can’t imagine how hard this must have been for him. We know that Gerry is now at peace but it is still difficult to come to terms with this loss. We wish you all the strength you will need in the coming days and for the upcoming memorial/celebration of life service.
