I was saddened to read of Wally's passing in the Clarington This Week paper. I always enjoyed his great sense of humour and his interest in the local area.
Wally and Jean attended one of the opening events at Lydia Trull Public School in Courtice in 1998, where I was principal. Along with such celebrations, there were refreshments served. At this particular one, Wally called me over to point out the two different bowls of punch available and asked me which one was the 'with' bowl. I laughed and reminded him that this was a school and that both punch bowls were 'without'. He enjoyed banter and put a smile on so many faces. Wally was a great conversationalist no matter what the occasion or where we might bump into each other. I wish Jean and the McKnight family comfort, beautiful memories and peace.

My parents, Doug and Lois Thomlison , from Napanee and Selby, ON, always spoke fondly of Wallace and Jean McKnight. I lived and taught in Bowmanville for over 20 years., and they were always mentioned as a common link! George McKnight was a great family friend and neighbour, and Vera Dawson a close friend of my parents. My Dad is gone now. However, my Mother will be saddened to hear of his passing. A great man, I have often been told! We are sorry for your loss!
