Obituary of Stella Margaret Watters

November 6, 1941 - September 9, 2017

In our hearts and on our minds forever, Stella passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 9th at the age of 75 years old.  She will be deeply missed and remembered as a kind and gentle hearted mother by her three children, Catherine Baynham (Chris Baynham), Allan Watters (Janet Watters), and Jamie Watters (Leza Watters). Stella was a cherished and proud Grandma to her 7 grandchildren, Connor Jelly, Christopher Jelly, Emily Jelly, Claire Baynham, Olivia Watters, Grace Watters, and Liam Watters. She will be greatly missed by her brothers, sisters, cousins and extended family with whom she kept in such close contact despite the long distances between them.

She was born in Codroy Valley, Newfoundland on November 6, 1941 and although she may have left 'the rock' to make her life and raise her family in Ontario, 'ome remained a core piece of who she was as a person.  At her request, there will be a service and burial of her ashes in Codroy Valley at a later date.

All who knew her would agree that she was a soft-spoken, gracious and gentle woman who loved her family and was always just a phone call away if you needed her.  If you called her in the afternoon during the summer, you would often catch her watching the Blue Jays - her favourite pastime.

The family would like to thank the homecare nurses who provided wonderful care and support for her - Susan, Annette, Roisin, Sonya, and Elissa, as well as Dr. Bharucha for providing his palliative care expertise.  We would not have been able to give her the comfort and care that she needed without all of your help.

Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville, on Saturday September 23rd  from 10 am – 11 am. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jays Care Foundation.
