A limb has fallen
from the family tree ..
I hear a voice that whispers
‘Grieve not for me’.
Remember the best times
the laughter, the songs ..
The good I lived
while I was strong.
Continue my heritage
I’m counting on you ..
Keep on smiling
the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease
my soul is at rest ..
Remembering all, how
I was truly blessed.
Continue traditions
no matter how small ..
Go on with your lives
don’t stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly
so keep up your chin ..
Until that fine day
we’re together again.
Rest In Peace Grump

The only times I can remember with uncle John are good ones, Kind , gentle , Humorous, good mannered, good natured , would give anyone the shirt off his back, loved the outdoors, cottage life, fishing, snowmobiling and as Curt said earlier, way to many adjectives to try and mention. I am beginning to think these are common traits in the Bowmanville Trimble clan passed on through Grandpa (Elmer) and Grandma (Marjorie). I go up Park road (Bowmanville) now and then, every time I pass I think of Grandpa’s and Uncle John’s old properties (expropriated by Ontario Hydro/ OPG quite a while back), houses long gone but the memories are still there. I would say his best days were raising his big family, I think family life meant the world to him and he had a great time achieving it. I can remember his daughters passing a few year back now, he looked at me and said” the hardest think in life is having to bury your own child, out living any of your children is just not right”. He definitely loved all nine of his children and his many grand children, even losing one was too much to bear in his eyes. He wanted everyone to enjoy and share in his journey in life. He moved on after that realizing he needed to celebrate her life with family and her children his grand children ensuring her memories lived on. I hope someone can find the time to energize life in the old car project and enjoys it in his memory.
Great Man & Great Uncle who will be dearly missed.

To my uncle John
Mostly I remember so many wonderful times at the cottage..
The Ellie Mae... Everyone knows the Ellie Mae...taking all of us kids water skiing...
My best memory is jumping in the back of uncle johns station wagon with about 7 or 8 of us kids and heading to the A & W... Watching the girl come to the car on roller skates with our order and ALWAYS taking home a big jug of root beer
You gave me so many wonderful memories and so much fun..
Always had a goofy smile on your face as you laid there pretending to sleep with one eye open...
You will be terribly missed but never forgotten...
May your next journey be as wonderful as your first.
Love cherry and uncle curt

A great Dad makes memories, goes on adventures, put his family first, makes sacrifices, is patient, finds time for his kids, is a great teacher, and loves unconditionally. That’s you! Thank you for our father daughter trips to the CNE, especially August 19, 1980 when we were temporarily separated for a washroom break and crowds of youth poured onto the grounds mad because Alice Cooper didn’t show up. You had to fight through the crowd to reach me as I witnessed my first live version of frogger. You were ahead of your time. Thanks for being there when I had my wisdom teeth removed, you were funny or I was funny or it was the medication, memorable just the same. Thanks for depositing a love of gardening, showing me how to use power tools, and teaching me to water ski at six years old, something I enjoy today. Watching you work on boats, motors, and cars was a common thing and on a hot day you would come home with a large box of frozen treats and hand them out until the box was empty, always lots of kids to receive. It’s no surprise you could always find someone to pull your finger. I fondly remember the cottage adventures with ice cream at Fort Irwin (aka Centre), watching the bears rummaging at the dump, standing on your feet for the three step (because you said, “it isn’t the six step”) and taking selfies every time we saw each other. So glad we experienced Lunenburg together, those tall ships put smile on your face and warmth in your heart. More recently, we shared tender moments, time I will never regret or forget. Thanks for the memories, I will miss you. Sail away and enjoy your white horse. Love BJ, #9.

Hey Dad
I repeat all of what numbers 4, 6, 7, and 8 wrote. And as well, thank you for the breakfast of "wiffles" at the cottage, potato pancakes "made from scratch" (the best ever IMO), after dinner cruises on the Ellie Mae and all other "cottage" toys; the floating dock, the diving board, the rubber inner tube (hours of endless fun, 'cept for the valve when it left a scratch down your back or side) but we sucked it up buttercups. Oh the many scars and endless fun on that thing. Thank you for teaching us how to swim, water ski, YOU waterskiing in your Smokey Pleacher clown pants, not to forget the "scar making" surfboard. The fun we had yelling across the lake and hearing it repeat back. The Regatta (the best ever!). The Centre (by boat was always the best). Our Cottage neighbours (and they know who they are). AND THAT WAS JUST THE COTTAGE! Then there was the Homestead, Park Road where we lived from September to June (school daze). Thank you for the Go-cart track, the baseball field, the horses (Daisy and Fury.. Remember #3?..heehee). The tire swing. The lilac trees, vegetable garden, pond/ice rink, road hockey, Our Park Road neighbours (and they know who they are). We couldn't have done it without you Dad,
Thank you most for family. We are strong. We had a great teacher. Enjoy your next ride JFT. Love JFT #5
Love you Always and Forever.

My memories of Grump are probably different than his other grandchildren. Growing up 3500km away it wasn't like we could just pop in for coffee. So when I really sit and think about it I get a compilation of visits all at different points of my life. Consistently in my mind I always remember a gentleman of few words that had a nickname for everyone close to him.
I always admired his green thumb and subsequently when I found out he passed I was in my garden a trait I no doubt carried on from him.
We grew up far away but that didn't mean Grump was never there. Grump and Mable were at my wedding in 2011 and that is a memory I hold dear. I took John and Mabel to visit a friends grandparents on their farm in Rich Lake Alberta, the farm owner is currently 98 years old and I treasured listening to them talk that afternoon-East meets West so to speak and was truly inspiring. Every time I see a Chev or Gm I think of Grump. I'm a Ford man and when my friends bug me about getting a GM I always say "I'm sure they are well built my Grandpa and Uncles' had a hand in that"
Our conversations were never too deep, talked about the weather, the benefits of eating cucumbers, and the economy. We'd talk about gold and projects that were "ALMOST" done but never quite finished. Thinking about it now those conversations meant more than I thought they did then.
My fondest memory is when Grump, Elroy, Dad(Clint), Brad and Curt came to Alberta fishing. Grump and I spent a day in the boat and fished, it was a nice weekend, Grump was in his 80's and hopped out of the boat like a 20 year old. In the end Grump showed us a strength that was hard to endure and instilled in all of us. We fight to the end, it's a stubborn head strong strength that only the strongest families have. Grump's work ethic, attention to detail, self sufficiency, and Strength is in all of us... that's the thought I hold closest to me. Although physically gone, our family make us who we are. We are Trimble's.

Your were a man of many trades, traveled many places, built a few houses and even tore one down. I remember spending hours at Park Rd pulling nails out of all the boards that were being removed from the house..could not throw them away after all they might come in handy some day! I am sure they did:)
The one thing i will never forget is the time i went down east with the Dixon"s and got home sick, wrote a letter home and you drove straight there (17 hrs, i think) and i changed my mind and decided to stay.
Thank you everything:)
