I knew Mr. Derry Robertson for a long time (more than 22 years). What a tremendous loss for us. I'd like to share some sad time with all ACBI's friends, in the hope that although Derry is unable to physically be here with us today, a part of him may live on in each of us and, in turn, we can keep his spirit alive.

Derry, a fine gentleman indeed, always taking a moment to stop and say hello when he used to walk by. I feel his presence with a dog en tow ... and then the cat following behind, as I saunter the circle and through the fields. Our condolences for the loss of your wonderful Dad, who now walks again with your Mom - may you find peace in this thought.

Our deepest sympathies to Keith & Lori, Sarah & Greg, and Hugh. Your Dad was a fine gentleman with a keen mind and a quick wit.
Last summer, Derry added the most romantic touch to my daughter's wedding, when he allowed my son-in-law to launch "Derry's Dory" (a Cape Dory Typhoon), and use it to sail my daughter to their wedding ceremony on our dock. It was a toss-up as to whom was more excited - the groom sailing the Cape Dory, or Derry seeing his Cape Dory finally in the water.
We are so grateful to have had Derry as our neighbour, and ultimately, as our friend. Cheers, dear Derry, to a life well lived! You will be sorely missed.

We were sad to hear of Derry's passing. For many years we enjoyed chatting when Marilyn and Derry would stop by for eggs at our farm. They had a love of Labradors and "Red" the cat seemed to have filled a void for Derry. I had looked forward to seeing Derry at an Xmas Open House on the cove and worried at that time, when told he wasn't doing well enough to join. Our sincere condolences to the family. A true loss to our community.

Derry and my husband Frank Nicol graduated in Architecture in 1954 . They arrived in Canada to seek fame and fortune (to happen later) but in the meantime found wives. Marilyn and I often joked that they were indeed adventuresome, taking on Canadian girls. I can only imagine the letters back to family in Scotland! I have wonderful memories over the years of regular parties and get-togethers. Marilyn and I helped with the hosting of some of their classmates at the Toronto stop on a tour of Canada some years ago. We also had a great reunion in 2004 in Scotland with other classmates. I feel blessed to have known such special people.

Very much saddened to hear of the death of my friend and colleague. I had visited him only last week and found him still cheerful and chatty over lunch in the nursing home. Over the last few years we had taken to celebrating Burns Night at his Prinyers Cove Robertson-designed lakeshore house, but his declining health meant no haggis and neeps for us this year. I will miss the fun we had making fun of the antics of the otherwise respected members of ACBI, and of the characters we knew in Scotland before that too. We had over 50 years of rich material to enjoy. He was a straightforward, uncomplicated and reliable man, a hard working and accomplished architect, and a friend that possessed an inexhaustible reserve of generosity and goodwill. A rare combination nowadays. My heartfelt condolences to his grieving family.
