Style and Verve
My Mom, Doris Hills, explained the word Verve to me with Your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as her example. The definition went something like this: Someone with verve only bends in bad weather or hard times until they figure out the storm, then they smile, roll up their sleeves and knuckle down to what must be done.
Pat Best gave me more cute stylish haircuts than I could possibly recall, spending time, and occasionally asking my opinion about something that mattered. I really appreciated that.
She had style and enthusiasm. I loved the way she called her big strong husband "Best". It seemed to me to be a more than daily affirmation that she had chosen her life mate most fortuitously!
I hold you in my prayers tonight, my own heart full of memories and the love of my Mom. My advice is to start a Nana Journal and take turns writing the special things you want to share and remember about this very fine Solina woman.
