Passed away at Oshawa General Hospital
on October 29, 2011.
Tom was born and raised in Niagara Falls. A keen athlete he played on the Canadian All-Star Baseball team in Baltimore in 1947. His love for the game in later years when he helped organize the Bowmanville Legion Lobb Ball team. He served for 2 years in Germany with N.A.T.O as a member of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. Upon his return he resumed his employment with Ontario Hydro- working in Clinton, Markham and lastly in Bowmanville.
While playing basketball on leave in England he marched in the Canadian Honour Guard for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife and debating partner of 33 years, Marion (Pascoe), his daughters, Julia McCuaig and Carrie Meston (Dave), step-children Elaine Preston (Rick) and Garth Davey (Roger), sister Norma Westlake and grandchildren Kirk & Kelly McCuaig and Jamie & Lindsay Meston.
Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. on Wednesday November 2, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A Legion Service will be held at 6:45 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday November 3, 2011 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Durham Region Humane Society and will be gratefully acknowledged.
